Route 146 Worcester Hurley Square

The Massachusetts Highway project at Route 146 and Hurley Square in Worcester, Massachusetts consists of five new bridges for the new alignment of Route 146.

The bridges superstructure has spans up to 180' using New England precast tee bulbs, precast box beams, and steel truss. The smaller span was built with a 18"cast-in place slab. The abutment and retaining walls are curved, stepped and sloped at the top of the wall. Work included the installation of architectural stone finish.

The pedestrian bridge towers which supported 180' truss had a smooth form finish with ties in the horizontal rustications.

Contract amount: $40,000,000.
