Amtrak High Speed Rail Shop Improvements

Project Highlights:
  • 4,000 sf x 44 ft high steel framed building
  • 1,100 sf x 12 ft high prefabricated metal building and canopy
  • Emergency standby generator
  • Five fire alarm systems integration to one central point

The Joint Venture Design‐Build team of Consigli Construction and J.F. White were awarded five contract packages. The main project was the installation of the drop table and surrounding maintenance building to allow for Acela vehicle maintenance at the north end of the corridor. The drop table lowered the trucks from beneath the train, vertically then laterally, to be replaced with waiting train trucks, minimizing train set down time

The J.V. team was responsible to complete the preliminary 25% design and to manage and construct the project within ten months. This included utility, track, catenary system, underpinning, support of excavation, deep foundation, demolition, fire alarm systems, checkout, testing, and closeout for the project.

An additional Security System contract package was awarded. This package included perimeter fencing, high strength vehicular security gates, video cameras, wiring, and systems integration including DVR storage.

Contract value: $22,387,000.
