J. F. White was contracted to furnish and install deep foundation elements for Roseland Properties' East Pier Project. The overall project consisted of developing the Massport Pier One property with waterfront apartments and condominiums which will have an unprecedented view of the Boston skyline from the East Boston side of the harbor. The scope consisted of a steel sheet cofferdam and the driving of 14 inch square precast, prestressed concrete piles.

The sheet pile cofferdam provides tidal seawater cutoff. There is approximately 2,043 linear feet of sheeting, which ranges in depth from 30 feet to 55 feet. The sheet piling materials were delivered by truck through the congested streets of East Boston.

The pile driving aspect of the project consisted of driving 1,101 - 14 inch square 120 ton precast, prestressed concrete piles for the landside buildings, ranging in length from 85 feet to 160 feet. The piles were delivered by barge to Massport Pier One, which is the Portside portion of the project. The piles were driven by two rigs with fixed leads.

The work was completed ahead of schedule in May 2007.
