J. F. White Contracting was contracted to furnish and install a coated steel sheet pile wall to replace the existing flume steel sheet pile wall and furnish and install new structural steel support.  The sheet pile wall provides a flume for the discharge cooling water from the power plant to settle and cool before being discharged into the Mystic river.  the sheets were driven from a  54' x 190' crane barge using the Liebherr 853 crawler crane and an ICE 44-50 vibro hammer.

The structural steel work involved replacing the existing struts and walers.  J. F. White revised the contact method to replace the channel waler involved, restraining the existing tie backs with a tie back puller, completely removing the existing waler in 30' sections, installing the new coated channel waler and shimming to the existing tie back plate. This provided the client a better product and all material was coated to provide maximum corrosion resistance.

The majority of the work took place while the flume was active.
