Chelsea Street Bridge Replacement

J.F. White’s Electrical Division provided the installation of electrical power and control systems for the new vertical lift bridge span and control house of the Chelsea Street Bridge Replacement Project. J.F. White met the project’s unique logistical and safety challenges. Chief among them was getting electrical crews, materials, and equipment to the bridge’s two machine rooms located 220 feet above the ground.

J.F. White installed 2 - 350 kva diesel generators, 4 - 60 HP AC motors, 8 warning/barrier traffic gates, and 29 CCTV cameras. Also included in the scope was the installation of a fire alarm system, fire suppression system, gas detection system, access/intrusion alarm system, paging system, navigation and aviation lights.

J.F. White maintained the daily operation and control of the bridge during the final stages of construction and turnover to the owner.
