State Labs Electrical Repair

J.F. White was contracted by DCAMM to perform the installation of a new Medium Voltage Switchgear including its supporting equipment, a UPS system and battery backup at the Mass State Labs in Jamaica Plain. As part of the contract, four new generators were installed. J.F. White disconnected and relocated the two 13.8kv / 480V transformer to create a loop feed substation. Additionally, the 480V lineup was removed and replaced. The civil portion of the project involved the removal of existing slabs and the installation of new foundations, equipment pads, electrical duct banks and manholes.

The second stage of the project included installing a new HVAC system including its associated equipment. Included in this equipment was a new air handling unit and chiller equipment as well as all the necessary electrical conduit and cable to complete the system. The existing generator was removed from the building as well as its fuel oil system and ventilation system.

The third stage included the installation of a new fire alarm, communication system and the connection to the energy management system. The project was completed without interruption and on schedule.
