The MWRA contracted J.F. White Contracting Company to construct the Braintree‐Weymouth Replacement Pump Station on the site of the existing Pump Station. The existing Pump Station was demolished and a new 4400 sf Pump Station building was constructed. To facilitate the existing flows while the new Pump Station was constructed, a temporary continuous wastewater bypass was in use for twenty months while the existing Pump Station was taken off line. Bypass pumping had to be done 24 hrs/day, 7 days/week. J.F. White furnished, installed and maintain an emergency standby generator to maintain existing wastewater flows in case of power outages. Due to the heavy flows of waste water being bypassed we had to provide and operate a PLC Instrumentation system.

The Pump Station has the capacity of 28 MGD. It is complete with Channel Grinders, Pumps, Odor Control System, Scada System, Fire Alarm System, Page Party System, Radio System. Modifications were made to the Nut Island Headworks Instrumentation and Control System to enable remote monitoring and control of the Pump Station.

Contract value: $1,757,000.
