BEST PARKING STRUCTURE

This seven-level, 1000-car parking garage combined the challenges of massive site modification with the intricate elements of architectural construction. The site was located between two sections of campus on a hillside adjacent to the existing library. Removing the existing ledge by drilling and blasting was the most challenging task in excavating the 70-foot shear cut along the hillside. A new drainage system was installed to deal with the new site conditions. The design of the structure combined a cast in place foundation with precast concrete structural members and architectural finish work.

Other work included building specialties such as electrical and mechanical systems. Site restoration – including pavers, cast in place stairs along the hill, exterior lighting, and landscaping -- was the final element of this impressive and award-winning project.
