J. F. White's contract included the construction of a 7,500 foot long by 100 foot wide taxiway with 35 foot shoulders. The bituminous concrete taxiway will be constructed over crushed aggregate base over a gravel sub-base, the taxiway runs north-south, approximately parallel to Runway 4L-22 R. Seven existing taxiways and two runways were affected by the construction of this taxiway. At the intersections and at portions of other two taxiways, the existing bituminous surfaces were milled inlayed.
The work included various drainage improvements. Electrical improvements consisted of 41,000 lf of 2" RSC in pavement and 7,000 lf of 2" RSC in grass. Concrete encased ductbank, 660 lf of 4-way 3" PVC, 3,150 lf of 8-Way 3" PVC and 840' of 18-way 3" PVC was required.
Coordination with Massport Aviation Operations for this airside project for the construction of this project was significant. This project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget.
