J.F. White Contracting Company successfully
completed two Hub Stations for the MBTA in the fall of
2004. The Hub Stations were based on Edward and Kelcey
conceptual drawings and are located at the MBTA
concourse level at North Station and South Station. The
main purpose for the Hub Stations is to provide security
monitoring points for the authority, while at the same time
providing central locations for customer relations officials.
Each Hub Station is connected to the closed circuit
televisions throughout the MBTA tunnel system and has
the capability to monitor several locations at the same time.
The Hub Stations consist of steel tube framing,
stainless steel trim, laminated glazing, rubber floor tile,
acoustical ceiling panels, acoustical wall board, HVAC
systems, CCTV system, computers and electrical work.
Construction of the Hub Stations was accomplished on a
fast track schedule by J.F. White Civil, J.F. White Electrical,
Environmental Interiors, Live Wave and Intelligent Systems
and Controls.
