Oxford Street Traffic Improvements

J. F. White was contracted by Harvard University to provide interim traffic calming measures on Oxford Street in Cambridge, MA. The project consisted of drainage installation and modifications and the construction of two raised intersections on Oxford Street: at the intersection of Sacramento St. and at the intersection of Wendell St.

Traffic calming measures at the intersections consisted of new concrete sidewalks, detectable warning pavers, granite curbing, raising the elevation of the roadway surface with interlocking concrete pavers, and placement of bituminous concrete pavement as a ramp between the existing roadway and each raised intersection. Work was completed while maintaining vehicular and pedestrian access within the intersections.

This work will provide for safe pedestrian travel ways in the Cambridgeport area.
