Logan runway 33l end Safety improvements

J.F. White, in association with Jacobs Engineering, was awarded the Design Build contract for improvements to the Runway 33L End at Boston Logan International Airport. The project consists of a proposed 600’ long and 300’ wide RSA with an Engineered Material Arresting System on a pile supported deck; other work includes permitting, eelgrass mitigation, geotechnical, electrical, airfield lighting, navigation aid systems, general site work, drainage and construction phasing. Construction began June 2011 and is scheduled to be completed by the Fall of 2012.  Due to the aggressive schedule, J. F. White is using multiple crews and cranes to construct the pier; from both  land and water simultaneously.

MA State Lab Jamaica Plain

After working on an earlier MA State Lab project in Jamaica Plain, the J. F. White Mechanical Group was contracted by the Division of Capital Asset Management and their Construction Manager, W. T. Rich, to perform an emergency replacement of the cooling system. This project required diligent collaboration amongst the Engineer, Construction Manager, Contractor and Owner. J. F. White was able to deliver a successful project despite an accelerated schedule and working around an active laboratory in the facility by working overnight and weekend shifts and, most importantly, through strategic pre-planning of activities.

J.F. White Contracting Company (JFW) has been subcontracted for the general site work by Bodwell Pines Corporation for a 50 unit residential building with a first floor commercial space . Bodwell Pines is a local real estate developer specializing in residential housing. This project is their first venture in the City of Boston.

The scope includes the demolition of 3 existing buildings, the installation of soldier pile & lagging support of excavation system, mass excavation and disposal of approximately 4,000 CY of soil, geo-technical monitoring, trenching for the foundation underdrain system and connection of the new utilities. Due the small size and urban location this parcel of land this will require close coordination of all operations and entities to safely complete our scope on time and within budget.

MBTA Redline Substation traction power upgrade 

The MBTA has awarded J.F.White the contract to upgrade to the D.C. traction power equipment at five MBTA substations on the MBTA Red Line. This project calls for the removal of existing D.C. traction power equipment and the furnishing and installing of the new equipment. 

The work will be performed one substation at a time phased over a duration of 42 months.

IP BASED VIRTUAL MATRIX SWITCH VIDEO SYSTEM UPGRADES

This MassDOT ARRA contract provides IP Based Virtual Matrix Switch Video Systems Upgrades (ITS) throughout Boston - at MHD, BTD, MTA & MBTA Operation Centers. J.F.White Electrical is scheduled to complete the work by the end of 2010.
