J.F. White’s Electrical team performed a critical infrastructure upgrade to the State Capitol building’s southern wing. The main power feed for the south switchgear was upgraded from 1600A Aluminum Bus Duct to conduit and wire. The south wing of the State House was de-energized while the Bus Duct tap was removed and the new feeders were terminated on the 1600A circuit breaker. During this shutdown, critical maintenance was performed on the switchgear, torquing electrical connections and cleaning the copper bus.
The fire alarm system was temporarily relocated and active during the refurbishing of the coal pocket roof. Once the roof was complete the fire alarm system was reinstalled, along with new area lighting and emergency lighting.
New architectural lighting was installed along the East and West Annex to wash the exterior of the building with light during the evening hours. J.F. White refurbished the existing pole lights in the State House courtyard. For security purposes, guard houses were installed at both the north and south parking lots.
